Life as a Festival

I recently attended the Outside Lands Festival in San Fransisco...

The transition between a festival setting and daily life can be unsettling. At a festival, all you care about is what form of enjoyment is next. You realize that most of your so called troubles aren't that important anyway, and focus purely on making the most out of your day. You pack every moment filled with fun experiences. You become intensely creative and expressive, and so does everyone around you. It's fabulous! Then you get back to "real" life and have a sinking feeling that there are things to worry about again. "Oh crap... can I pay the bills?" You turn on the tv to relax, only to be bombarded with fearful images and things shown in a way that you can't help but realize is a little skewed, awkward...nutso. Things become "important" again, rather than the carefree, breezy feeling of vacation. The obvious point of this meandering is how to go about achieving that festival feeling, in day to day life. How to remember to notice everything around you, as if it is a gift. as if it is something you payed to attend. You pay your life to live. Every tree, flower, and ocean view is waiting for you as a gift. If you accept the little gifts into your life...the ladybug on a leaf, the smiling baby, the hilarious stranger...then all of life is a festival. So freakin celebrate!
